Serenade to the Shadow

My beautiful shadow, loyal neighbor,
I follow you with the sun and the moon,
at the candlelight or the firelight,
and if for fun you will hide
in the confusing dark,
with closed eyes I’ll find you
hidden in one of my dreams.
If I could hug you, my shadow!
If only I could touch you and kiss you,
nothing else would I ask from life!

I love your dark and sure figure,
which becomes shy or long or short,
never the same and always itself.
I adore your light dance,
the light of your black color,
the sweet sound of your silence,
a lover that welcomes my chant.
If I could hug you, my shadow!
If only I could touch you and kiss you,
nothing else would I ask from life!
