Vanity
I own the gift of clairvoyance:
it is my only vanity. A dream at times
bursts in, while I bite the corner
of the handkerchief: images beyond the glasses,
the iced breath of my elders on the neck.
Neither sunrises nor promising sunsets, but
gloomy days are holding out their hands,
and the desolated deep sense of today.
