XI page 29

There are no impossible loves but possible loves that have become impossible the fault lies with fears
produced by excessive lives
it doesn’t take much to overcome distances
and stay safe from the oppressive storm let’s go and drop the leaves
one after the other like in the film
when the teacher says to the student
Give the wax remove the wax
we had a pact to object
to make a wall against disorder
that peremptory has fallen
and worries to make a bag of it
and burying them instead we left them free in the first wind and we were swept away

Giorgio Anastasia (Italy, 1972) from Fondazione collection – translation from Italian by Slow Words

The cover picture of this poem is of the student photographer Valeria Scotti who took part in a workshop lead by Diana Marrone (Slow Words) at CFI (Centro Fotografia Indipendente) founded by Mario Spada, Biagio Ippolito and Luca Anzani in Naples – an unconventional photography school where Slow Words and Fondazione editorial team partnered to issue a booklet of postcards in which the students freely chose to associate their photo projects to Anastasia’s poems.
