Solace

In the evenings
Amidst the shade of the olive trees
And the tender whispers of breezes,
On my white sheet of paper,
I would never give up the loneliness of my pen
Which challenges the logic of the world.
Not for the shadow of a state’s flag,
Nor for a woman’s voice,
Nor for the breath of my own child,
Not even for you, God,
Forgive me.
